Last year I bought the GoPro Hero (2018) to take travelling and to experiment with a different way of using video content. This GoPro looks nearly identical to it's much more expensive siblings and has many of the same features like touch screen display, video stabilisation and fantastic voice control, which is great for hands free control.

The GoPro Hero (2018) has a 62.3 x 44.9 x 33 mm case, USB C Super Charger Port, video output, battery and HDMI slot. The features are the same or similar to the other models of GoPro. I’ve spent time exploring the underwater features to this device and impressively it takes footage up to a depth of 10m without an external case.
This GoPro is so easy to upload content up with your mobile or laptop through the GoPro app. Through the app you can control taking images or videos which is fantastic to have an extra external screen or to shoot footage from a distance i.e. time lapses, animals etc. The GoPro Hero (2018) works over 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, the 5GHz therefore uploading can be a tad slow…so patience everyone. I found it so easy and handy that the footage uploads onto your mobile and can be easily editing and shared on websites and social media.
As a photography enthusiast and dabbling photographer I wouldn’t use the GoPro for high definition quality images just exclusively for video content as I feel the quality is just not the same as my Canon 400D and doesn’t have the same capabilities to control shutter, depth of field and compositions.
The (EIS) Electronic Image Stabilization is so much more impressive than I initially thought it would be, with very little shaking and shuttering when running or swimming etc. This model also has the same three micro array as the other models and I was really pleased with the quality of the audio, with the price contrast I was surprised that the quality of the spec was very similar.
Overall I am really impressed with the video and image content produced by the GoPro Hero (2018) I contemplated for a long time whether making the investment of a more expensive model would make a big difference, however if your just using the equipment for your personal, fun, creativity and portfolio, I feel this is a perfect GoPro for you. If you are a professional using this for business then perhaps testing and researching the models would be of more benefit.
