On the 4th June 2015, I finished my HND in Photographic and as a class we had an exhibition in Studio Souk in Belfast. Hosting an exhibition is a very STRESSFUL situation, although a very rewarding and enjoyable one on the evening.
Completing the work and producing prefect prints and framing is a very challenging task as there is an element of luck and circumstances and come into play. I found the best way of avoiding major muck ups i.e. bad prints, image quality problems and framing errors is to give yourself ample time for these issues and will 80% of the time happen. It was a great experience to show of your hard work and especially work your passionate and confident about, my work I displayed was a very personal theme that I am so into, I really enjoyed showing people the story and message behind my work and gaining feedback positive and negative. Its also great to make contacts at exhibitions because you never know who you will meet that might be helpful one day.
It will always be a great memory for me to have. During the summer of 2015 I got the opportunity to curate at the exhibition of Hector McDonnell, he is an internationally acclaimed artist and son of Lord Antrim. His collection being exhibited was the Neptune’s Legacy, which is Northern Ireland National Trust Coastlines and Properties. Looking at his work gave me great inspiration for future projects of mine and made me excited to create. This was a great opportunity that fell in my lap and I grabbed it with both hands saying YES to new experiences are key to living a good life.
